Stuart Lubwama
The continued military raid on our school of leadership is intended to instill fear in people who believe in our ideology, but as history teaches us —those who stand for the truth, justice, and freedom have always faced persecution. Yet, they have always prevailed.
As a Headteacher and teacher of Political History and Christian Religious Education, I am reminded of the struggles of great leaders who faced intimidation but never gave up. From Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison before becoming president, to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who declared, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Even in the Bible, we see that Pharaoh attempted to oppress the Israelites but could not stop God’s plan for their liberation (Exodus 3:9-10).
My name is Lubwama Stuart, and I refuse to be silenced. As the District Mobilizer for Wakiso District and an aspiring Member of Parliament for Entebbe Municipality, I reaffirm my commitment to this cause. We must not retreat. We must not surrender. Instead, we must rise stronger, more united, and more determined than ever before.
To Our Released Comrades
To Chairman Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu, Mrs. Rehema Juma Lubowa and Mrs. Mercy Walukamba, we stand with you. You were taken, tortured, and returned with wounds, but you remain unbroken. You embody the spirit of resilience that fuels this struggle. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Your pain is our pain, your wounds are our wounds, and your courage is also our courage. We shall not let your suffering be in vain. You were targeted because you are leaders, but leadership means standing tall even when beaten down.
To Our Missing Brothers and Sisters
To our comrades who are still missing—Alex Rovan Lwanyaga, General Gadaffi, Achilloe Kivimbi, and many others—we have not forgotten you. We continue to demand your release, and we shall not rest until you are back with us.
The regime may hide you, but they cannot erase you from our hearts. Just as Joseph was unjustly imprisoned in Egypt but later rose to greatness (Genesis 39:20-21), we believe that you, too, shall return, stronger than ever.
President Kyagulanyi has always said:
“We are not fighting for ourselves alone. We are fighting for the future of Uganda, for our children, and for generations to come. Even when they take us, our voices will continue to echo in the hearts of millions!”
We send strength to you, our brothers and sisters. Hold on. The people of Uganda stand with you, and we shall never give up until you are free.
To Our Party President and Leaders
The attack on our party headquarters in Makerere Kavule is yet another sign of fear from a regime that knows its time is running out. They raided our offices not because we are weak, but because we are strong. They seek to scatter us, but they have only made us more determined.
To President Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu and our leadership, take heart. The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are hard-pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
President Kyagulanyi once sang in “Bikwase Kyagulanyi”: “Tebasobola kutujako kyetulina, amazima getulimu tebasobola kugamenya!” (They cannot take away what we have; they cannot break the truth we stand for!)
Our Resolve is Stronger than ever
To every comrade, whether free or in captivity, whether in the classrooms or on the streets, whether leading or following—this is our moment to rise.
The forces of oppression want us to be afraid, but we shall not be moved. Uganda belongs to all of us, and we shall not stop until justice prevails. People Power! Our Power!
