UCAA clarifies on minor Fire Outbreak

A minor fire outbreak was reported in the passenger terminal at Entebbe airport on Tuesday afternoon. According to sources, the fire began at around 3pm in the ceiling of the departure passenger terminal leading to smoke in the departure passenger waiting lounges near gate 2A and 2B. However, no casualty incidents were reported.

When contacted, Vianney Luggya, the public relations manager for Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) said, the situation was normalised and passenger operations resumed.

“Passengers and all other users of Entebbe airport were immediately evacuated as the UCAA rescue and fire-fighitng services team handled the situation,” explained Luggya adding that the source and cause of fire is being investigated.
