Uganda Cranes were subjected to a 3-2 defeat to South Africa in an international friendly at the Orlando Stadium on Thursday evening.

Bongokuhle Hollingwe and Evidence Mokgpa’s brace canceled Ibrahim Orit’s opener before Abdul Lumala pulled back another for the visitors.

The Cranes were in search of their maiden win having suffered two losses in three matches played against Bafana Bafana.

In the 17th minute, Orit placed the Cranes in the lead after heading home captain Emmanuel Okwi’s cross that went over the keeper to meet the Vipers’ forward on the far post unmarked.

After a little while, assister Okwi nearly turned to goal scorer but his emphatic effort missed the target by inches to deny Cranes second.

On the return of the second half, South Africa made a double change introducing Evidence Makgopa and Thapiso Kutumela for Denwan Farmer and Nkosinathi Sibisi respectively.

In the 62nd minute, second-half substitute Makgopa slotted the ball past goalkeeper Ismail to level matters for the hosts.

Just after five minutes, South Africa doubled their lead forward Bongokhule Hlongwane’a goal to regain bragging rights.

Due to lack of concentration and composure, Bafana Bafana stretched the lead to three as Makgopa secured a brace of the night.

With just a minute, pacy forward Abdu Lumala scored a late consolation but it was late to even secure just a point from the hosts who claimed all points available to grab.
