The Friday heavy down-pour left hundreds of families at Bussi island, homeless and several property destroyed. The ravaging winds and rains destroyed property including acres of crops, homes and boats in Kinywante village, Bussi Sub-county in Wakiso District, leaving several residents nursing injuries at various health facilities.

The rain which started at around 3:30pm, is said to have lasted for over three hours. “Before it started raining, we saw a rainbow from the lake, and later strong unusual winds which blew away boats,” Sulaiman Musoke Ssenkubuge narrated, urging the Ministry of disaster preparedness to intervene.
Stanely Kabuye the LC1 Chairman intimated that it was the first time such destructive rains and winds were experienced at Bussi island. ‘We have contacted the district chairman Matia Lwanga Bwanika, RDC Hajji Nuhu Njuki among other immediate leaders for any possible relief,” noted Kabuye.
