The two naked bodies of adult males that were retrieved by Police from Nambigirwa swamp, are believed to have been dropped after strangulation. These were retrieved on Wednesday evening along Entebbe express highway, where they had been dumped 10metres under Nambigirwa bridge, which lies about 10km along Entebbe-Busega lane. According to preliminary findings, one of the bodies was of a male circumcised adult roughly of 38years who was dressed in only a red t-shirt with no trouser nor under pants. “His skin was just starting to peel off, with a broken right knee plus eminent signs of strangulation,” confided a police source privy to investigations.
The second body is reported to have been found almost fully submerged in water at the opposite side of the road, from the first body. “It was found nakedly uncircumcised with a strangled neck,” added a credible source. Both bodies were taken to Mulago hospital for postmortem as inquiries at hand continue vide Ebb CRB 432/2020. The bodies were first cited by a one Nalongo Kasubo, a road cleaner attached to Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA). She immediately notified other people who subsequently called police.
In September last year, Joshua Rushegyera and Merina Tumukunde were found murdered on the same highway, a few metres away from Nambigirwa bridge. A gun number UGPOL 563100699022697 belonging to Davis Taremwa, was recovered at the scene with 27 instead of 30 bullets. Taremwa a police officer, was immediately arrested and remanded to Kigo prison to date. Close to the bridge, are CCTV cameras which reportedly were not functioning when the incident happened last year. It remains unclear whether they have since, been repaired.
Entebbe express highway, is a no-go zone for cyclists and pedestrians, hence only vehicles are allowed on the new road. There is always a police truck, patrolling the highway every night, and cameras planted at different spots of the highway.
