Unlike in the past, this year Muslims in Uganda and the world at large have celebrated a stay home Eid Mubarak due the out break of covid19.
In the late December,2019, World Health Organization declared Covid19 as a pandemic worldwide and came up with standard operating measures to follow in the fight against the deadly pandemic.
Through the keeping distance and avoiding crowds measure, many countries were forced to close all prayer centres and putting up a lock-down to have this effected .
Just like Easter, Eid too has been celebrated in homes not as before when muslims could gather to mosques or other open grounds for prayers and later mark the day a muslim community in a more colorful way.
It’s a tradition for many to buy new clothes – hijabs and the like, in preparation for the day but all this could not happen as many arcades remain closed.
