Following the president’s directive against public gatherings as a way to control the wild spread of Coronavirus pandemic, several authorities, government entities and security organs have moved to effect the directive. As it has been the case in other parts of the country, Entebbe municipality authorities have ordered for the closure of all beaches, open-market places among other hang-outs. Traders were seen tussling with police during a Friday out-door market at Abayita Ababiri, along Entebbe road, a scrimmage which lasted for several hours. Led by SP Baker Kawonawo, police managed to convince traders in vacating the place for their own safety.

Similarly, Entebbe municipality authorities suspended all operations of beaches and hang-outs until the 32days elapse, as had earlier been directed by President Museveni. “We all know that Entebbe is Uganda’s gateway, we therefore, cannot just leave these places open because someone can enter the country with the virus and then goes to these happening places,” remarked Vincent Kayanja the Entebbe municipality mayor.

All beaches have also been ordered to close business until 32 days have elapsed

John Asiimwe the owner of Speenah beach- Entebbe, expressed sadness, saying Easter season was soon approaching; the only time when beaches amass good profits. “But we also want live and healthy people, so, we welcome the move, as we monitor how the situation shall be after the 32days,” intimated Asiimwe.
